First Lady Emerita

Annie P. Mathews

Annie P. Mathews, was born November 30, 1931 in Linden, Alabama to the proud parents of Deacon Tim and Minnie Thomas. They later moved to Safford, Alabama. Annie graduated from Keith high school in  Orrville, Alabama. She met Lee E. Mathews and they fell in love. One year later she married to her soulmate on  September 29, 1947. From this union they were blessed with four wonderful and lovely children (Matilene, Charles, Chauncey and Debra). Currently, 1st Lady Emerita has 18 grandchildren; 29 great- grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren. She was faithfully and loving wife to the late Pastor Mathews for nearly 64 years.

Pastor Lee and Annie Mathews worked faithfully together to bring wisdom, compassion and integrity to Corinthian Family. 1st Lady Emerita is still preparing meals for others, visiting the sick and shut-in, and preparing our youth for real – life circumstances. We praise God for many different hats she wore. President of the Mission Board; Church school Teacher; Prayer Warrior; Counselor; Finance Officer.

Emerita Annie Mathews is known as a loving and caring woman of God. A couple of her favorite scriptures Her favorite scripture is Psalms 34: I will bless the Lord at all times (through the GOOD, BAD & the UGLY). His praise shall continually be in my mouth. She believed that through constant teaching and the hearing of God’s word, lives would change. And Psalms 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass”.

1st Lady Emerita, Annie believes that LOVE is the key to doing God’s will. My prayer is that “we all continue to serve God and LOVE one another.
